They weren’t one unstoppable workaholic at all, but two Canadian brothers whose lives were decided, again and again, by the flip of a coin. Aaron and Shawn Ashmore grew up sharing auditions, scripts, and nerves while casting directors literally tossed their futures into the air. One would walk away with the role, the other with a brave face and the promise of “maybe next time.”Those childhood commercials led them down different but parallel paths: Shawn freezing the screen as Iceman in the X‑Men films, Aaron grounding superhero chaos as Jimmy Olsen in Smallville and later anchoring sci‑fi hits like Warehouse 13 and Killjoys. Decades on, fans are still stunned to discover that the troubled Gil in Ginny & Georgia isn’t “that guy from The Rookie,” but his mirror image. In a town built on illusion, the Ashmores pulled off Hollywood’s simplest, kindest trick: they both got to be the star.
