Police dog Scout made an unusual discovery during a search in Pentwyn, Cardiff, leading officers straight to a hidden satchel buried beneath the undergrowth. Inside were 97 grams of cannabis and more than £2,200 in cash.
South Wales Police said the discovery was made during proactive patrols following information about suspected drug dealing in the area. Just days earlier, officers had also recovered five bags containing suspected Class A drugs from nearby undergrowth.
Scout’s sharp nose quickly turned the routine search into a significant find, helping officers uncover what had been deliberately hidden. The discovery also caught the attention of dog owners online, who joked that their own pets usually come home carrying sticks, bread—or much less pleasant surprises.
For Scout, however, this was no ordinary walk. One sniff led police to a hidden bag packed with drugs and cash, showing once again how valuable trained police dogs can be when searching areas where evidence may be carefully concealed.
