Eighteen years ago, my wife Karen walked away from our family shortly after giving birth to our twin daughters, Maya and Lila. I was left alone with two newborn babies, countless responsibilities, and a heartbreak I couldn’t explain.
Raising twins as a single father wasn’t easy. There were sleepless nights, financial struggles, school meetings, birthdays, and countless moments when I wished someone could share the responsibility.
But my daughters became my entire world.
As they grew older, they occasionally asked about their mother. I tried to answer honestly without filling their hearts with resentment.
Eventually, graduation day arrived. Watching Maya and Lila walk across the stage was the proudest moment of my life.
Then I noticed a familiar woman standing near the auditorium exit.
It was Karen.

“I’ve been waiting eighteen years to give you this,” she whispered.
