Lately, I’ve been struggling a lot with my mental health. Some days feel heavier than others, and even the smallest tasks can feel exhausting. There are moments when my thoughts become overwhelming, and I start feeling disconnected from myself and everyone around me.
What makes a bigger difference than people realize are the small things — especially the way my boyfriend shows up for me without being asked.
Out of nowhere, I’ll get random texts from him during the day. Sometimes it’s something simple like, “I’m proud of you,” or “You’re doing better than you think.” Other times he reminds me that I’m loved, appreciated, and not alone, even when my mind tries to convince me otherwise.
He knows that words of affirmation mean everything to me. He understands that when someone is struggling mentally, reassurance can feel like a lifeline. And the beautiful part is that he does it naturally. Not because he has to, but because he genuinely cares.
Those messages may look small to other people, but to me, they carry so much weight. They help quiet the negative thoughts for a while. They remind me to keep going.
Sometimes healing is not about grand gestures. Sometimes it is simply about having someone who remembers to be gentle with your heart, especially on the days when you cannot be gentle with yourself.
