I found this in my girlfriend’s bathroom. We’ve been looking at it for an hour now and still can’t figure out what it is.

It appeared without warning, sitting on the cold bathroom tiles like something that didn’t belong. My girlfriend and I froze the moment we saw it. Strange, fleshy, and almost alive-looking, it didn’t resemble anything familiar. We stood there staring, trying to make sense of it, but the longer we looked, the more unsettling it became. What should have been an ordinary space suddenly felt invaded by something unknown.

At first, we tried to stay rational. Maybe it was mold, or something harmless that just looked strange. But as we started searching online, our calm quickly slipped away. The possibilities only grew more disturbing—parasites, toxic growths, things that shouldn’t exist in a clean home. The bathroom, once routine and safe, began to feel like a place we didn’t fully understand anymore.

The tension built quietly. We questioned whether it was dangerous, whether we should touch it, or even stay in the apartment. It was surprising how something so small could completely shift our sense of control. In that moment, it felt like the boundary between our orderly world and something unpredictable had been crossed.

Eventually, we found the answer. It was a slime mold—harmless, but undeniably strange. Relief came quickly, followed by nervous laughter as we cleaned it up and scrubbed the tiles. Still, the feeling didn’t fully disappear. Even now, every time I step into that bathroom, I catch myself glancing down, just to make sure nothing unexpected has returned.
