After nearly two years of trying to have a baby, I finally discovered I was pregnant. My husband, Bennett, was overjoyed. He immediately started planning the nursery, choosing baby names, and imagining our future together.
But everything changed during our first ultrasound.
The doctor smiled and announced that we weren’t expecting one baby.
We were having twins!
I burst into tears of happiness, but Bennett’s expression suddenly changed.
“That’s impossible,” he whispered. “Neither of our families has twins.”
The doctor explained that twins can occur without a known family history. But Bennett wasn’t convinced.
On the drive home, he accused me of being unfaithful.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
For months, he questioned my loyalty, and his mother eventually demanded a DNA test.
Then, three weeks before my due date, I went into labor.
Our two beautiful daughters arrived seven minutes apart.
But when Bennett approached their hospital crib, his face turned pale.
He stared at their dark hair and unfamiliar facial features.
Then he said something that shattered my heart.
“Those babies aren’t mine.”
