The nun explained that she was tired of hearing jokes about blonde people. Throughout her life, she had encountered countless silly stories suggesting that people with blonde hair weren’t particularly intelligent. Although she understood that many people considered these jokes harmless entertainment, she felt they were unfair and unnecessarily embarrassing. She wanted people to stop making assumptions about others based on something as simple as hair color.
God listened patiently to her concerns. He admired her desire to spare others from embarrassment and agreed to grant her request. From that moment forward, He promised, blonde jokes would disappear from people’s minds. The nun was delighted. She thanked Him warmly, believing that her wish had finally been fulfilled. But God wasn’t finished. He reminded her that the reward was supposed to be something special for her personally.
The nun hesitated. She insisted that she didn’t need expensive possessions, beautiful clothes, or a luxurious home. Her simple life made her happy, and she had never been particularly interested in material comforts. Nevertheless, God encouraged her to think of one small inconvenience that He could help her overcome. After a long silence, she lowered her eyes and admitted that there was something she found frustrating, although she felt embarrassed mentioning it.
God reassured her that no problem was too small. The nun finally looked up with a hopeful expression. She explained that she enjoyed eating colorful chocolate candies, especially M&M’s, but one thing about them had always caused her trouble. God leaned forward, curious to hear her final request. With complete seriousness, she sighed and said:
“It’s those M&M’s. They’re just so difficult to peel!”
And just like that, the nun accidentally delivered the very kind of blonde joke she had wished would disappear.
