A father was passing by his son’s bedroom when something felt… off.

The door was slightly open, and when he glanced inside, he froze. The room—usually messy, full of clothes and scattered things—was perfectly clean. Too clean. Everything was in its place, like it had been carefully arranged.

And then he saw it.

An envelope, placed right in the center of the pillow.
It simply read: “Dad.”

A sudden wave of dread hit him. His heart started pounding as he slowly walked into the room, each step heavier than the last. Something about this didn’t feel right.

With shaking hands, he picked up the envelope and opened it.

Inside was a letter.

“Dad,
I’m sorry to tell you this, but I’ve run away with my new girlfriend. I found real love with her, and I couldn’t stay any longer. I know you won’t approve because of her tattoos, piercings, and the way she lives—but she understands me.

She’s older than me, and yes… she’s pregnant. But we’re going to make it work. We’ve found a small place to stay, and even though money is tight, we’ll figure it out. I’ve started making some cash on the side, and things are going to get better.

Please don’t try to find me. I’ll come back to visit one day.

Love,
Your son.”

The father’s vision blurred. His chest tightened as he tried to process every word. His mind raced with fear, anger, confusion… everything at once.

But then—

At the bottom of the page, in smaller handwriting, there was one more line.

“P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I’m at Jake’s house. I just wanted to remind you there are worse things in life than the report card on the kitchen table.” 😅
