DANDRUFF Dandruff is one of the most common scalp problems, affecting millions of people worldwide. But what really causes dandruff?, and how can you treat it for good?

📌what’s Dandruff?
Dandruff is a common scalp condition characterized by the shedding of white or gray flakes of dead skin from the scalp. It can be embarrassing and uncomfortable, often causing itching and irritation.

📌 Causes of Dandruff

1. Dry Skin
▫️Dry skin is one of the most common causes of dandruff. During cold winter months, when indoor heating can dry out your skin, dandruff may worsen.

2. Seborrheic Dermatitis
▫️This is a skin condition that affects areas rich in oil glands, like

the scalp. Seborrheic dermatitis causes red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. It’s a common cause of dandruff.

3. Malassezia Fungus
▫️Malassezia is a type of yeast that lives on the scalp. In some people, it can irritate the scalp and cause an overproduction of skin cells. When these cells die and fall off, they mix with oil from the hair and scalp, leading to dandruff.

4. Oily Scalp and Hair
▫️People with naturally oily skin and hair are more prone to dandruff. Excess oil can build up on the scalp, trapping dead skin cells and leading to dandruff.

📌Other causes include:

5. Not Shampooing Enough
▫️Infrequent washing can lead to an accumulation of oil and skin cells on the scalp, contributing to dandruff. Regular shampooing helps remove this buildup.

6. Sensitivity to Hair Care Products
▫️Some people have sensitive skin that reacts to certain hair care products. This condition, known as contact dermatitis, can cause a red, itchy, and flaky scalp.

7. Stress
▫️Stress doesn’t cause dandruff directly, but it can weaken the immune system, potentially worsening dandruff or other skin conditions

like seborrheic dermatitis.

8. Diet
▫️A diet lacking in essential nutrients, particularly zinc, B vitamins, and certain types of fats, may increase the risk of dandruff.

9. Age and Gender
▫️Dandruff often begins in young adulthood and continues through middle age. Men are more likely to have dandruff, possibly due to hormonal factors.
