Devastated’ family of new mom, 32, randomly killed in Times Square releases heartbreaking statement

She had just returned from maternity leave. She was walking through Times Square in broad daylight, surrounded by the noise and movement of New York City. She never made it home.

Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old Bank of America executive and new mother, died suddenly, leaving behind her husband and their five-month-old daughter. What should have been an ordinary day became a devastating loss for a family whose future had seemed full of possibilities.

For her loved ones, the tragedy is almost impossible to comprehend. A young mother who had recently welcomed her baby was suddenly gone, leaving her family to face milestones she will never experience—first words, first steps, birthdays, and countless ordinary moments that now carry an extraordinary weight.

As her family has begun speaking about her life, the focus has shifted beyond the tragedy itself. They want people to remember the woman behind the headlines: a daughter, wife, mother, and accomplished professional whose life meant far more than the circumstances of her death.

Her story is a painful reminder of how quickly an ordinary moment can become something irreversible. One minute, she was simply moving through a familiar city street. Moments later, an entire family’s future had changed.

Her husband is now raising their young daughter without the mother she should have known throughout her childhood.

And perhaps the most heartbreaking part is knowing how much of Erin’s story was still unwritten.
