Devastated parents to pull the plug on their 13-year-old daughter after sleepover tragedy, warn others

The night was supposed to be ordinary—a sleepover filled with laughter, friendship, and the kind of memories young teenagers cherish. But for one family, that night turned into an unimaginable tragedy. Their 13-year-old daughter, Esra Haynes, never made it home the same. What began as an innocent attempt to fit in with a viral trend ended in heartbreak that would change her family forever.

Esra, described as energetic, talented, and full of life, was deeply involved in sports and loved spending time with her siblings. During the sleepover, she took part in a dangerous trend known as “chroming,” which involves inhaling toxic substances to achieve a brief high. Within moments, her body began to shut down. She went into cardiac arrest, and by the time help arrived, the damage was already severe.

Her parents received a call no parent ever wants to hear. Rushing to her side, they found paramedics fighting to save her life. Esra was placed on life support, but just hours later, doctors delivered devastating news—her brain had suffered irreversible damage. Faced with an impossible decision, her parents chose to let her go, surrounding her with love in her final moments.

Now living with unimaginable grief, her family is speaking out to raise awareness about the dangers of such trends. They hope that by sharing Esra’s story, other families can be spared the same pain, reminding everyone how quickly one decision can change everything.
