It was supposed to be an ordinary morning walk.
On a peaceful February day in 2023, 85-year-old Gloria Serge stepped outside with her beloved Shih Tzu, Trooper, at a retirement community in Florida.
She had no reason to imagine that this familiar routine would become her final walk.
As Gloria approached the edge of a lake, something terrifying happened.
An enormous alligator suddenly emerged from the water and lunged toward her little dog.
Trooper managed to escape the predator’s jaws, but Gloria wasn’t so fortunate.
Within seconds, the alligator seized her and began dragging her toward the lake.
Nearby, her neighbor and friend Carol Thomas witnessed the horrifying scene and desperately searched for a way to help.
Carol shouted instructions, hoping Gloria could reach safety.
But Gloria’s response was only four words.
Those final words revealed the terrifying reality of what was happening — and they would stay with her friend long after that tragic morning.
