At first glance, this picture seems like a simple counting challenge. A collection of small green peas appears together, and the question sounds incredibly easy: How many peas can you see? Most people immediately begin counting, moving their eyes from one pea to another until they reach a number that seems correct.
But this puzzle may be trickier than it first appears. Because the peas share similar colors, sizes, and shapes, they can easily blend together. Some may overlap, while others might be partially concealed behind neighboring peas. That makes it surprisingly easy to miss one or count the same pea twice.
Before checking the answer, take another look at the illustration. Try counting slowly, starting from one side and moving systematically across the picture.
The real challenge isn’t how quickly you can count. It’s whether you’ve noticed every individual pea.
