At first glance, this picture looks like a simple collection of pigeons arranged neatly against a blue background. Nothing seems particularly unusual, and counting the birds should take only a few seconds.
But there’s a surprising twist.
The number of pigeons you notice immediately might not be the correct answer.
Some birds appear to be standing alone, while others overlap in ways that make them difficult to distinguish.
The challenge is to look beyond the obvious shapes and examine the smallest details.
Are there extra heads hiding behind larger birds? Could another pigeon be partially concealed beneath a wing?
Sometimes our brains automatically group overlapping objects together, making us overlook something directly in front of us.
