He walked into the bank with a trolley rolling behind him, the unmistakable sound of thousands of coins clinking together drawing everyone’s attention. His name was Otha Anders, a Louisiana man affectionately known as the “coin master.” For 45 years, he had collected pennies, carefully storing them in five-gallon plastic water jugs until his unusual hobby became an extraordinary collection.
Anders, who worked as a supervisor with the Jackson School Board, had a special reason for picking up every penny he encountered. To him, each coin was a little reminder from God to remain grateful.
