Less than twenty-four hours after their wedding, Leah stood beside her new husband, Derek, at JFK preparing for twelve days in Maui. Then Derek casually announced a “small change”: his secretary, Camille, would be joining them because business supposedly couldn’t wait. Camille soon arrived wearing a flowing white dress and pulling a suitcase almost identical to Leah’s. Derek tightened his arm around Leah’s waist, silently warning her not to embarrass him.

Leah smiled and agreed, but neither Derek nor Camille knew she had received a mysterious envelope during the wedding reception. The information inside had been serious enough for her attorney to tell her not to confront Derek until company records were protected. At the airport, Leah pretended she had been delayed at security while Derek and Camille boarded without her. Then she canceled her ticket and left the terminal. By the time their plane landed in Maui, Derek’s phone was about to reveal that Leah knew far more than either of them imagined.\
