The Fall Guy’ Star Faced Addiction Battles – See How She’s Thriving at 66

A Teen’s Sentence Sparks Debate About Justice, Choices, and Consequences

Heather Thomas, best known for portraying Jody Banks in the television series The Fall Guy, appeared destined for long-term Hollywood success. Before becoming a household name, she hosted a teen interview show and later studied film and theater at University of California, Los Angeles. Her breakout role alongside Lee Majors made her one of television’s most recognizable stars and a popular sex symbol of the 1980s.

Behind the scenes, however, Thomas was struggling with substance abuse. She later revealed that experimentation with drugs began at a young age and escalated during her college years. As pressure mounted to maintain her image and demanding work schedule, she developed a dependence on cocaine. Her health deteriorated significantly, and she lost a substantial amount of weight. The situation became critical when she frequently fell asleep between takes and even collapsed in front of her co-star.

A turning point came after filming the final episode of The Fall Guy. Believing she was rushing to the hospital to see her father, Thomas instead discovered that family and friends had organized an intervention. She entered a rehabilitation program and learned that her health had been severely affected by years of addiction. Thomas later described the experience as a relief, recognizing that the intervention may have saved her life.

Following recovery, Thomas returned to acting in smaller roles before shifting her focus toward writing, family life, and activism. She married entertainment attorney Skip Brittenham, became a mother, and dedicated time to charitable causes. Today, her story stands as a powerful example of resilience, recovery, and the ability to rebuild a fulfilling life after overcoming personal struggles.
