We Remember Service Stations of the Past – Even Gas Pumps Had Classy Style Back Then!

They were positively elegant compared to today’s gas stations.

One thing we certainly do miss about service stations are the classy designs for the pumps and the stations themselves. It’s hard to picture the equivalent of an Art Deco station being built today. Compared to resent day gas stations, these service stations were quite classy and they were fairly common.

This Art Deco Shell station must have been glorious when it was first built. Just check out the shell lamp globes on top of the gas pumps!

The Teapot Dome gas station in Zillah, Washington, was built in 1922. The station was moved and then restored years later, though it is no longer a working station.
