What We Found in Dad’s Garage Changed Everything

Growing up, my father had one rule that never changed: stay out of the garage. He claimed it was filled with dangerous tools and equipment, but he kept the door locked even when nothing was being repaired. Only he was allowed inside. As I grew older, the mystery became impossible to ignore. One summer, while Dad was away, I found the spare key and finally opened the door I had spent years wondering about.

What I discovered wasn’t a workshop. Several mannequins stood across the room wearing carefully coordinated outfits. Clothing racks covered one wall, while hundreds of photographs filled another. Many showed my mother posing in different dresses, hairstyles, and locations. At first, I assumed Dad had created some strange collection of family memories. Then I noticed something disturbing. Every photograph carried a handwritten label. Some showed Mom, while others featured women I had never seen before. Yet beneath every single picture, Dad had written exactly the same name: Julia. Then I found a box of letters.
