I Swapped Oil for Mayonnaise in My Brownies

I was halfway through making a simple batch of boxed brownies when I realized I had made a ridiculous mistake. Instead of reaching for vegetable oil, I had somehow dumped mayonnaise into the bowl. By the time I noticed, it was already mixed into the chocolate batter. I stared at it, imagining brownies that tasted like sandwiches, and seriously considered throwing everything away.

But curiosity got the better of me. The batter looked surprisingly smooth and rich, so I poured it into the pan and put it in the oven. Soon, the kitchen smelled exactly like warm chocolate brownies. When the timer went off, the top was glossy and slightly crackled while the center looked incredibly fudgy. Nothing seemed wrong. Still, appearance could be deceiving. I waited for them to cool, cut one square, and nervously took my first bite. That was when I realized my mistake had done something completely unexpected.
