I Swapped Oil for Mayonnaise in My Brownies

It started with a simple kitchen mistake. While preparing a boxed brownie mix, I reached for what I thought was the vegetable oil and added a generous amount to the bowl. Only after stirring did I realize what I had actually used: mayonnaise. The batter looked unusually thick and silky, and I immediately imagined brownies tasting like some strange chocolate sandwich.

For a moment, I considered throwing everything away and starting again. Instead, curiosity convinced me to keep going. I poured the mixture into the pan and placed it in the oven, expecting the experiment to end badly. But soon, the kitchen began filling with the familiar rich smell of chocolate. When the brownies emerged, they had a glossy, crackled top and a surprisingly fudgy center. Everything looked completely normal. Then I took the first bite—and realized my embarrassing mistake had done something I never expected.
